What is The Satellite?

The Satellite Centers is developing a network of comfortable, connected, professional office and workspace centers in community commercial districts. The Satellite Centers offer a mix of private offices, cubicles, meeting rooms and drop-in (café) space available 24/7 to members, who include telecommuters, solopreneurs, consultants, therapists, grad students and startups. Satellite Centers operate via memberships, but welcome walk-ins during regular business hours. Plans are always flexible, so you don’t have to make long commitments to have a great place to work.

How much does it cost?

Pricing varies depending on the type of space you want (café, workstation, private office or conference room) and the amount of time you want it (for an hour, by the day, month-to-month or 24/7). Because pricing varies from location to location, we recommend contacting the Satellite closest to you or checking out its Facility Page under Locations on this website. Satellites also welcome walk-ins during regular business hours.

What do I need to bring to work there?

Most people arrive with a laptop and whatever files they need to work with. We provide power, high-speed broadband Internet, business-class printing, faxing and copying and comfortable space to work. For a small fee, we can provide a phone at your desk for the day or as long as you have a membership.

What types of workspace do you have?

Each Satellite includes a mix of lockable private offices, private workstations, touchdown workspace and meeting rooms. All come furnished with desks and ergonomic chairs. Private offices and workstations have locking storage space and wired broadband connections, with the ability to connect phones. All spaces have secure WiFi and free coffee!

What types of people use Satellites?

Telecommuters, home-based business owners, consultants, therapists, solopreneurs, grad students and start ups — generally people who need a quiet space to get some work done or a place to meet with others — or people who just work better with the buzz of others working around them.

How can I reserve space?

Members can reserve space online, by phone or in person. We recommend non-members call in advance to ensure space is available.

What equipment do you have in the conference rooms?

Equipment varies by location, but typically includes videoconference equipment, projectors, whiteboards, broadband connection and teleconference equipment.

Are telework centers handicapped accessible?

Yes.

Is there a charge for printing, faxing and scanning?

Yes, but prices are typically below those charged at print shops.

Is there an additional charge for using the conference rooms?

Some memberships includes conference room hours, but all members – and walkins! – can use conference and meeting rooms. We recommend you reserve in advance.

Is there lockable storage space?

Each workstation includes lockable storage and each private office locks and includes lockable storage. We also offer rolling locking cabinets for an additional fee.

How “green” are the Centers?

Satellites use motion-sensors for lighting (with low-wattage and LED fixtures), zero-VOC paints and carpet, on-demand water in some sites, low flow toilets and as much natural lighting as possible. All furniture has been selected with “green” in mind. We also keep recycle containers at every workspace.

Is your space available for private events?

Yes. We also make our facilities available to community organizations at a reduced rate for meetings and events.
